SMS Director – Part 145

VHR Recruitment is proud to partner with a leading aviation operator in the Middle East to recruit an experienced SMS Director with extensive expertise in Part 145 maintenance operations.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for an accomplished Safety professional who thrives in dynamic environments and has a proven record of implementing, managing, and improving Safety Management Systems in accordance with EASA Part 145 standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Safety Management System within the Part 145 Maintenance organization.

• Develop and enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and promote a proactive safety culture.

• Monitor and evaluate safety performance through audits, investigations, and data analysis.

• Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders on all safety-related matters.

• Oversee safety training programs and ensure effective communication across all levels of the maintenance organization.

• Champion risk management and promote a just culture focused on learning and development.

Candidate Requirements:

• Proven leadership in SMS roles within aviation, specifically under EASA Part 145 regulations.

• Deep understanding of maintenance operations and safety oversight in a regulated aviation environment.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of influencing across departments and at executive level.

• Experience in safety reporting systems, risk management tools, and quality assurance processes.

• Relevant qualifications in Aviation Safety, Engineering, or a related discipline.
